Simple Tips To Help You Understand Acupuncture

Posted by admin on June 11, 2013

Finding the right treatment for your particular condition is not easy. There are lots of traditional medical treatments out there that usually don’t work or create too many side effects. If the general practitioner can do little, who is able to help? Acupuncture is a solid alternative that is natural and effective.

Acupuncture may take some time to work. The true impact of acupuncture may not appear until multiple sessions have occurred. You may not feel significantly different after your first session. So give it some time and make all of the appointments. Over the course of treatment, the benefits will kick in.

It might appear to be a painful process, but this is entirely visual. Even though a doctor uses needles, they are very thin and do not cause any harm. It is very difficult to spot the needles when standing several feet away. Acupuncture needles do not go very deep into the skin.

If you want to get into acupuncture but don’t like needles, speak with the acupuncturist about laser acupuncture. This is a revolutionary new acupuncture therapy that makes use of lasers by putting pressure on specific body points without actually using needles. This painless procedure is reported to be very effective at relieving pain.

Never drink alcohol before getting acupuncture done. Acupuncture helps renew your senses. Alcohol impedes this process. If you are still feeling effects from drinking alcohol the night before, it’s best to have your appointment rescheduled.

Do not consume any alcohol or other mind-altering substances before an appointment. Acupuncture clears the mind, bringing increased clarity to the inner being. Alcohol gets in the way of this process. For optimum results, avoid drinking alcohol at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.

If you go through the trouble of beginning acupuncture, keep going until you feel better. Just as with prescription drugs, stopping before the treatment is complete is ill advised. Though you might be tempted to stop before the entire length of treatment is complete, especially since you experience an improvement, the best results will come from finishing all sessions. Therefore, go through the entire treatment so you can see just how effective it is to your body.

Verify whether your acupuncture practitioner accepts your insurance and if your policy covers such treatments. If your insurance situation is sorted out before the appointment, you’ll be able to concentrate on feeling better. Less stress will make your treatments more beneficial.

Don’t wear clothes that are too tight when you have an acupuncture appointment. Your acupuncturist will be better able to treat you if you are wearing clothes that are loose-fitting and do not cover every inch of your body. Clothing that is loose also allows there to be good access to get the needles placed correctly. There are also sessions that are completed in group environments, so it’s very important then to have loose clothes that give access.

If you have a rigid exercise routine, it may be hard for you not to workout when you have to get an acupuncture session the same day. There is no problem with a little bit of exercise, but just take things easier than usual. Instead of running, go for a walk. You shouldn’t be trying new things on days when you have acupuncture sessions.

Check again to make sure your insurance is going to be accepted by your acupuncturist and that the acupuncture treatments you want done are, as well. If you give them all the information now, you can focus on your session when it happens. This can help them succeed since you’ll be relaxed.

It is important that you educate yourself on what acupuncture involves. The more information you know about the procedure, the better prepared you will be. Remember the advice that you have read from this article, and you can make acupuncture a regular part of your personal health program.

Blast Fat With Slim in 6 Beach Body

Posted by admin on June 4, 2013

Today I will be revisiting an old favorite beach body exercise workout program that has given me great results – you’re gonna laugh but it belongs to my wife.

Now this workout has a major following with women and was designed for both men and women. Although the results for women have been amazing.

I’ve done p90x, insanity and all those crazy workouts and I honestly could not keep up with all the crazy moves they come up with. I’m quite uncoordinated in nature and was getting sick of pounding the treadmill.

That’s when my wife told me about Slim in 6 and that it was an exercise program that worked well on men as well. I didn’t believe her until I popped the first video in and saw a guy doing it as well – which relieved me.

The guy who was performing the exercises in the tape was an actual user of the program, when I saw the before and after picture of his Slim in 6 results – my jaw dropped!

The guy had a big belly and now he was lean and cut – that’s what I wanted!

The creator of the program is Debbie Siebers, a world renowned fitness lifestyle expert who looks hot for the age of 52.

The program has 3 phases:

Start it up phase: this is the first video in the workout series, it goes for 28minutes and introduces you to the foundation steps of the exercises routine. It does allow you to workup a sweat and you workout for 2-3 days on this.

Ramp it up phase: this is the 2nd video in the workout series, it goes for 45minutes and is significantly more difficult than the first video. In this video, Debbie combines cardio training with resistance bands to build lean muscles. Her leg exercises are a killer, my thighs burned sooo much during this video.

Burn it up phase: this is the 3rd video in the workout series, it goes for more than an hour and Debbie takes it up a notch by turning you into a fat blasting machine. Loads of cardio, resistance building and working those core abdominals so that you can get lean sculpted abs.

I believe that Slim in 6 works well with a diet full of fruits, vegetables and a raw food diet – it will speed up your weight loss results.  I think my favorite part of the program is that Debbie is not all gung ho and annoying, she’s patient and walks you through all the moves – her routine is relatively straight forward too!

How To Stop Eating Fast Food

Posted by admin on May 31, 2013

So you want to eat more raw and natural food but can’t let go of your fast food attacks at midnight? I understand why, fat and sugar are one of the most addictive foods in the world so it’s hard to wean yourself off these food highs.

It’s also swap from a fast food loving junking to a raw vegan enthusiast in one day – I know I use to be you.

The key to making the change is to swap the junk food with healthy alternatives that stimulate the same endorphin feeling good chemicals inside your brain.

Here’s a schedule you can follow to ease into a healthy eating plan:

  • Week 1: Empty your fridge and cabinet of anything that has excess amounts of salt, oil, fat or sugar (this could mean emptying all your food if they are all junk food). Go out and buy lean meats, eggs, lean chicken, a mixture of vegetables & fruits.
  • Week 2:  Exercise. I don’t care if you like soccer, tennis or the gym – just move your body to increase dopamine in your body and get those ‘feel good” kicks. Try to eat at least 3 healthy meals a week and eat whatever you want for the rest of the week.
  • Week 3: increase your healthy meal consumption to 5 healthy meals a week and eat whatever you want for the rest of the week.
  • Week 4: Move towards eating more raw foods and less cooked meals in your diet, if you try and consume junk  again – you will notice that your body will tell you through congested bowels, indigestions and gas.

If you can stick to this schedule, you will be on your way to a more healthy and natural diet.

Reiki Healing

Reiki, often pronounced as ‘ray key) is a energy healing that brings balance and well being to the body. It originated in Japan and means universal life energy which is designed for the purpose of healing through gentle touch.

There are 5 main principles of Reiki which helps in calming your mind and heart. These are:

  1. Just for today, do not worry
  2. Just for today, do not get angry
  3. Honor your parents, teachers and elders
  4. Earn your living honestly
  5. show gratitude to every living thing.

These principles are very close to the Buddhist way of thinking and it propels to the basic nature that your body is meant to be healthy.

For example when you cut your hand, your body is working constantly to heal itself. When you’re sick or upset, your energy is drained. To begin to feel better you need to help your mind increase your vitality.

Plant Protein for Men

Posted by admin on May 24, 2013

Although most people in the Western World associate protein with meat, on average a person actually gets his protein mostly from plants. It is this fact that has made vegetarianism or veganism viable, although you don’t have to limit yourself to a vegetarian diet to be healthy.

But if you prefer to eat plant-based foods, here are some recommended options:

  • Lentils. One cup of lentils provides almost 18 grams of protein. Not only are lentils nutritious, they also are very easy to prepare and they are quite delicious too.
  • Seitan. This is a great alternative source of protein if you don’t want to eat beef, fish, or even soy products. You can get as much as 24 grams of protein from just 4 ounces of Seitan. Just one serving provides a quarter of your recommended daily allowance for protein. Just make sure that your body isn’t averse to gluten, since it’s made from wheat gluten.
  • Spirulina. The blue-green algae provide complete protein with all the important amino acids.
  • Quinoa. A cup of this provides 11 grams of protein. It’s a great substitute for pasta or rice, and you can serve it as is or with lots of vegetables and other greens. Many people use quinoa for their veggie burgers, and you can take it as your breakfast cereal. Just serve it cold with coconut milk and a few berries or almonds.
  • Tempeh. Just 4 ounces of this can yield up to 24 grams of protein. It is soybean based, although it is fermented unlike tofu. Use this instead of meatballs when you prepare pasta, or serve it with vegetables over brown rice.
